Verbier | Switzerland
Verbier is an Alpine village in Switzerland’s Valais. It's the gateway to the 4 Vallées ski area. Trails on Mont Fort Glacier have views of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc.
I first visited Verbier back in 1989, or was it 1990? I got to stay at the infamous Clambin chalet of John Falkiner and Marko Shapiro and get a tour of the mountain by the legendary Lisa Nicolas. A great intro to Swiss alpine skiing. I was so taken by the place I named our new retail store in Vail “Station Verbier.”
I returned many years later with my son Stefan as we passed through on the Haute Route to Zermatt from Chamonix.
